Robert Cheeke, an Inspiration
From Robert’s Facebook Page
Inspiration has become very important to me as I continue this journey to become a healthy vegan, without it I would have trouble keeping up with all the changes that I am making. I find the greatest inspiration in people and Robert Cheeke is one of these people. Robert Cheeke is a vegan bodybuilder, motivational speaker, founder of Vegan Bodybuilding and Fitness, VeganBodybuilding.com, and if that wasn’t enough he is now adding author to this list. He was one VegNews Magazine’s 15 most influential vegan athletes and Alicia Silverstone even calls Robert one of her “superheros.” In the next couple of months he will be releasing his first book, Vegan Bodybuilding and Fitness; The Complete Guide to Building Your Body on a Plant Based Diet, which I will definitely be picking up.
Robert is an inspiration to me for a couple of reasons. First of all, he has worked extremely hard to get his body (the kind of body that takes much more dedication than I certainly have, at least right now in my life) into amazing shape. If I only look an eighth as good as he does when I am done with this whole process then I will be a happy camper. In addition, when you see him speak on video or in person one thing that comes across is how passionate he is about not only vegan bodybuilding, but animal rights and living a healthy lifestyle. One of the places that I spend a lot of time online is the Vegan Bodybuilding forums, where Robert is very active. There is a wealth of information there and a huge community of health minded people that are all leading a vegan lifestyle. It is so refreshing to be able to go someplace online and ask questions about fitness, nutrition, or just talk about veganism without being scolded for not being an omnivore. It is thanks to Robert that we can take advantage of this great resource.
I have only been going to the gym seriously for the past week and a half and I am really trying hard to get my health in line. When I am at the gym I am thinking about how hard Robert works out and that pushes me to workout even harder. Robert has also helped inspire me to eat healthier. Through writings of his in magazines and interviews, I have learned so much about nutrition and how important it is in maintaining a healthy body.
